UF Jacksonville

Two projects supporting the University of Florida's expansion into Jacksonville.

As the University of Florida expanded its graduate programs into Jacksonville, I worked on two distinct projects for the new campus. The first was an out-of-home campaign announcing the arrival of Warrington College of Business graduate programs. The second was a series of large-scale interior murals, developed as part of a broader environmental design effort to represent the university's identity and its connection to Northeast Florida.

DELIVERABLES

Campaign concept, billboard design, digital advertising, image direction, and large-format environmental graphics

project 01 · The Next Big Thing in JAX

To announce Warrington's arrival in Jacksonville, the campaign needed to make an immediate impression while building anticipation for graduate business classes beginning in January 2026.

The concept pairs Jacksonville's skyline and the St. Johns River with a gator emerging from beneath the water. The headline, The Next Big Thing in JAX, plays on the unexpected image while positioning Warrington's arrival as something worth watching. Emerging January 2026 carries the idea through to the launch announcement.

The composition was designed for quick recognition and flexible application, adapting the same visual concept across roadside billboards, horizontal digital displays, and vertical placements at Jacksonville International Airport.

project 02 · Where UF meets the First Coast

The interior murals were developed as part of a broader UF Jacksonville environmental design effort. Unlike the Warrington-specific advertising campaign, these installations needed to represent the university as a whole while establishing a connection to Jacksonville and the surrounding region.

Each wall combines photography of UF landmarks, research, student life, and Jacksonville's built environment within a modular grid. Layered color treatments bring consistency to imagery from different sources, while large typographic panels highlight themes of excellence, innovation, community, and service.

The designs balance UF's recognizable orange and blue identity with local imagery and references, creating a visual connection between Gainesville and Jacksonville throughout the campus interior.

Both projects supported UF Jacksonville, but each had a very different purpose. The billboards needed to create anticipation in seconds. The murals needed to establish a sense of place and express the university’s identity over time.
